Rubbings from the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms Period and the Song Dynasty

Overview

The primary source of the database is rubbings from the Five Dynasties and Song Dynasty, totaling over 2,000 rubbings, held in the Fu Ssu-nien Library. Priority has been given to digitizing rubbings with tomb epitaph themes. Users can search for rubbings using criteria such as the title of the rubbing, the tomb's owner, the author, the chronological record of the inscription, the excavation location, and transcriptions. They can also conduct image comparisons between different copies.
Furthermore, the database includes a "Tomb Owner Data" search function. It focuses on nine specific themes that reflect the characteristics of the Five Dynasties and Song Dynasty tomb epitaphs. These themes include social mobility, cultural and military exchanges, achievements, martial ethics or the way of the warrior, family structures, marriage, funerary practices, the role of women, the calligraphy of tomb inscriptions, and historical research methods. These themes are provided as reference points for researchers.
The database has accumulated over 1,000 digitized records available for open searching and will continue to add more content.
