Seals collected at the Fu Ssu-Nien Library

Overview

The construction of this database aims to integrate the seal impressions found in the Fu Ssu-nien Library's collection. It extracts and compiles information from seals on rare ancient books and rubbings, including the collectors, connoisseurs, inscribers, and other individuals associated with these imprints. The seal impressions dated from the Song dynasty (960–1279) to the Republican Period. The goal is to obtain evidence related to the edition, transmission history, and essential details about the imprints, as well as to appreciate the calligraphy and artistic beauty of seal engraving.
The database records information about the seal owners, inscriptions, engravers, and imprint locations, and establishes links to the person data in Database of Names and Biographies, facilitating cross-referencing of resources.

The database has accumulated and made available for search over 3,000 seal records to date, and will continue to add more content.
